Evaluation Specialist

Independent contractor position description

We’re looking for Independent Contractors with:

  • Expertise in evaluation with demonstrated experience conducting focus groups, interviews, and observations and developing associated protocols and/or surveys.

  • Experience coding and analyzing qualitative data using a variety of methodologies.

  • Proficiency using NVivo or similar software; experience with Stata or R a plus.

  • Passion for using data to provide actionable insights in an easily digestible format.

  • Proactive and “can do” problem-solving attitude.

  • Ability to thrive in an environment that frequently changes.

  • Access to human and material resources needed to conduct duties.

  • Driven, self-motivated disposition.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance.

Types of projects the Evaluation Specialist Independent Contractor will help support:

  • Designing and developing a survey to inform cost-benefit analysis of community-based interventions to support low-income students.

  • Conducting focus groups with school staff, parents, and students focusing on implementation of school-based behavioral interventions.

  • Engaging in interviews with agency employees concerning internal policies and practices and their implementation.

  • Observing after-school programs to assess fidelity of program implementation.

Type of work you will be doing:

  • Conducting structured in-person focus groups and interviews with a variety of stakeholders including employees, parents, students, and community members.

  • Developing interview and focus group protocols to effectively evaluate education and workforce interventions.

  • Supporting in the creation of survey instruments and coordinate the collection of survey data through online survey platforms (e.g., Survey Monkey).

  • Analyzing and interpreting qualitative data and survey results and preparing outcome reports, fact sheets, and visualization of findings to meet client needs.

The Independent Contractor is responsible for:

  • Gathering the materials needed to complete the assignment.

  • Overseeing the assignment, from inception to completion.

  • Tailoring their approach to work to suit the job specifications, as required.

  • Communicating assignment-related issues as soon as they arise.

  • Ensuring that assignments are completed according to stipulated requirements.

  • Finalizing tasks by predetermined deadlines.

  • Completing and submitting tax returns in a timely manner.

 
Hourly rate: $60 - $80, depending on years of experience

Location: DC preferred; remote flexibility
