Independent contractor position description

We’re looking for Independent Contractors with:

  • Expertise in data analytics with demonstrated experience conducting statistical analysis and modeling using a variety of quantitative research methodologies.

  • Advanced proficiency in Stata or R; experience with Python a plus.

  • Strong command of SQL and working with relational databases

  • Passion for using data to provide actionable insights in an easily digestible format.

  • Proactive and “can do” problem-solving attitude.

  • Ability to thrive in an environment that frequently changes.

  • Access to human and material resources needed to conduct duties.

  • Driven, self-motivated disposition.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance.

The Lincoln Square Group specializes in the development and implementation of policy and data solutions and strategies relating to a host of industries including education, workforce development, international trade, energy and financial services.

 
Types of projects the Data Scientist Independent Contractor will help support:

  • Design and prototype of dashboards, program scorecards, and other novel analytical tools for an array of education and employment programs.

  • Analysis, interpretation and visualization of survey and human resources data focusing on diversity and inclusion within the private sector.

  • Creation of public-facing reports to fulfill local and federal data reporting requirements.

  • Prototyping and development of a comprehensive workforce database.

  • Overhaul of data collection and reporting processes and systems for juvenile justice involved youth.

Type of work you will be doing:

  • Building data models to analyze, interpret, and generate actionable insights for a variety of unstructured data sources.

  • Creating algorithms to automate cleansing, integration, and synthesis of large datasets from multiple disparate sources.

  • Visioning and implementing strategic process improvements for key data collection and reporting deliverables.

  • Developing data visualizations and tools to support clients and their stakeholders in the interpretation of data findings.

The Independent Contractor is responsible for:

  • Gathering the materials needed to complete the assignment.

  • Overseeing the assignment, from inception to completion.

  • Tailoring their approach to work to suit the job specifications, as required.

  • Communicating assignment-related issues as soon as they arise.

  • Ensuring that assignments are completed according to stipulated requirements.

  • Finalizing tasks by predetermined deadlines.

  • Completing and submitting tax returns in a timely manner.

 
Hourly rate: $70 - $90, depending on years of experience

Location: DC preferred; remote flexibility
